Just took part in a very stimulating Careers Fair at Brighton College where I presented a workshop, to 16-18 year olds, on how to handle interviews and assessment centres. It was great to see how the pupils were not only engaged in this but also had some excellent experience to handle competency based interview questions. In some areas of the press teenagers are unjustly vilified for being too noisy, disrespectful or having an opinion that differs from adults. Well, these teenagers did have opinions and could argue eloquently and thoughtfully, as well as taking on challenges and striving for more. As a father to a teenager (and three more to follow) he challenges my thinking every day and although he can have his ‘Kevin and Perry” moments, he is developing his own view of the world and shaping his own future and I am very proud of him.
